These were standard Winchester Model 1200 commercial rifles manufactured in the late 1960s to early mid 1970s that were purchased and converted to the military with a bayonet lug/heat shield and US markings. By the time most of these were transferred to the US military, the Vietnam War was coming to an end and few were said to have crossed the ocean to Southeast Asia. Some of these remained in service and were used in Grenada, Panama, the Persian Gulf, Somalia, Iraq and Afghanistan. Many were destroyed after the job, resulting in their scarcity today, due to the lack of government records of the delivery of the contract. The barrel is fitted with a six hole heat shield with a bayonet lug adapter marked part number "11686389" on the front edge which is attached to the barrel with three screws. The bayonet lug on this gun is larger than the M1917 bayonet which would have remained in service throughout the time the gun was in service. The barrel is marked as a rolled cylinder and 2 3/4 inch charge, with "U.S." above the symbols, and the frame is marked "U.S." below the bottom is the serial number and "AAD 10-88" on the lower left corner, along with the August Arsenal restoration mark. Blue / black anodized alloy body, metal frame, magazine tube, heat shield, bayonet adapter, loading port and latch. Equipped with an extended hand and pistol grip hoof with a black plastic butt. The height of the drawer is 14 cm. Includes correct Parkerized Gen Cheka M1917 Vietnam bayonet with black plastic grips, olive drab green plastic scabbard, olive drab green canvas sling, US Army Technical Manual TM 9-1005-303-14 and a sealed box of ten rounds of Winchester 00 XM162 Vietnam Ammunition 12 gauge.

Very good, retaining 90% plus arsenal parkerized finish with a few scattered light marks and 98% arsenal modified blue/black anodized finish on the receiver with a few light marks. While most of the US troops in Nam carried M16s, many others were armed with 12 gauge rifles.
